The Challenge

A customer in the aerospace industry required a hydraulic power unit to actuate the landing gear on an aircraft.  A Tucano Replica, modeled after the Embraer EMB-312 and manufactured by Italian company Flying Legend. It’s a two seater,  tandom arrangement! And the aircraft can take off and land within about 300 meters.  The challenge was to design a system that could:

• Operate on a 12V battery power source
• Fit within a compact space inside the aircraft
• Deploy the landing gear at 90 knots (104 mph / 166 km/h)
• Function reliably at a cruise speed of 180 knots (335 km/h)

The solution needed to be lightweight yet powerful, ensuring smooth and efficient operation without adding unnecessary bulk to the aircraft.

The Solution
